Eeeks
Avian people from a lost world, forced to Veskhari Reach by an existential threat, now organized for defense with extraordinary coordination and willingness to ally with anyone against telepathic swarms.
The Eeeks hail not from the nearby Insectoid Kingdom, but from a lost world—a distinction they emphatically maintain. Their current homeland is Veskhari Reach: a broken chain of rocky spires, wind-cut plateaus, and hollowed stone shelves suspended above the cloud cover. This isolated aerie is where they rebuilt after a cataclysmic loss. Other insect races call them “The Death Locusts”—a name earned through brutal efficiency. Eeeks strike fast, retreat cleanly, and do not panic when cut off. Telepathy and intimidation do not affect them. Negotiation ends the moment hive control is mentioned. They did not choose war, but they learned it better than most.
The Eeeks were forced to Veskhari Reach by an existential threat. They call the culprit “click-click-chirp-click”—a name understood to mean telepathic, hive-minded insect swarms that consume worlds. The Eeeks were never meant to be fighters, but this threat changed them: they learned to coordinate without a hive mind, fight enemies that hear thoughts, and disappear when holding ground was impossible. They now ally with anyone fighting those swarms, without hesitation and without questions.
Eeeks are not hive-minded, but they are highly organized. Each clan is tightly organized around a leader known as The Most High. She is never seen publicly; her location—the Deep Aerie—is known only to a few trusted escorts whose flight routes constantly change. Most decisions are collective, but the word of The Most High carries final weight, especially concerning survival and long-term planning.
Eeeks rarely travel on foot. Movement occurs primarily through layered flight paths. Walking is reserved for tight interiors, tool work, or moments when silence is essential. Their military posture is entirely defensive. They specialize in rapid, three-dimensional skirmishing, utilizing flight for aerial ambush and lightning-fast retreats. They avoid static, ground-based warfare whenever possible. Hallow-Peek serves as a dedicated staging ground for joint operations with allied factions—provided those allies can keep pace with Eeek mobility and respect their anti-hive protocols.
The Aerie floats above the Roaring Wastes (interactions involve avoiding chaotic human factions below). The Eeeks maintain cautious distance from the K’tharr Kingdom to the east. Against their sole true enemy—the Hive—they will ally with anyone, anywhere, anytime.
