The Moistworks of Va’sh is the installation built around the permanent water source that the Piran population’s sustenance requires. Its strategic importance is directly proportional to the Piran’s strategic importance — which is to say, substantial.

The Piran are the K’tharr’s most significant military asset and simultaneously one of their most dangerous liabilities: should a handler be incapacitated during engagement, the Piran reverts to a primal hunting state and attacks the nearest living organisms. The air force that makes Ch’kkra effectively unassailable from above and that provides the K’tharr with tactical capability no ground-based opponent can match is also the thing that can turn on its own side under specific conditions. Sustaining the Piran population, keeping the handler-mount bonds intact, and maintaining the water supply that Piran physiology requires are prerequisites for the air cavalry’s existence as a controlled military asset.

Water Infrastructure

The “Moistworks” designation refers to the water management infrastructure at Va’sh — the channels, storage systems, and distribution mechanisms that take a permanent water source and convert it into the reliable supply the Piran population needs.
