The Weaver's Tunnels

A vast industrial complex within an extensive cave system in the Kingdom of K'tharr, dedicated to resource extraction and the manufacture of armor plating and webbing materials by Droma-Akt artisans.

The Droma-Akt who constitute the bulk of the K’tharr Kingdom’s military are individually weaker than Sovereign Caste members, but they are not unarmored. The light armor that the Droma-Akt are equipped with — allowing the formation density and mobility that massed formations require while providing meaningful protection — is produced at the Weaver’s Tunnels, where the cave system’s scale provides both the raw material extraction and the manufacturing space that production at the kingdom’s consumption rate requires.

The “weaving” in the name refers specifically to the webbing materials that are manufactured here alongside the armor plating: structural webbing used in fortification, restraint applications, and the specific attachment systems that allow Krak and Drune to be fitted with equipment. The cave system provides the conditions that webbing production requires — consistent humidity, temperature, and working space — that the arid surface does not provide.

Production Scale

Chronicle Project accounts that describe K’tharr military capacity consistently note the kingdom’s ability to equip its massed Droma-Akt formations rather than deploy them in the unarmored state that “individually weaker” might suggest. The Weaver’s Tunnels are the installation that makes this possible: production at the scale that thousands of armored Droma-Akt require means the installation is substantial in both physical extent and in the population it employs.

The Droma-Akt artisans who work the Tunnels are skilled in the specific manufacturing processes that K’tharr armor and webbing production requires. This is craft work rather than labor at the lowest level — the armor that the Tunnels produce has to meet the functional standards that combat deployment demands, and producing it consistently requires the same kind of specialist knowledge that any advanced craft production requires.

The Sovereign Caste’s armor comes from a different production process. The Weaver’s Tunnels produce the Droma-Akt’s light combat armor at scale — designed for formation density, mobility, and volume production. Sovereign Caste armor is a separate category: individually crafted, using heat-resistant mineral compounds sourced from Gnath’s Breach that are processed through methods distinct from the Tunnels’ manufacturing operations. The Tunnels serve the Droma-Akt. The Sovereign Caste’s armor needs are met elsewhere, which is one of the practical expressions of the caste hierarchy’s different expectations and functions. The production distinction is not symbolic; the materials and methods are genuinely different.

Resource Extraction

The cave system that houses the Weaver’s Tunnels also provides direct access to mineral resources that the surrounding arid plains do not easily yield. Extraction operations within the cave system supply raw material inputs for the manufacturing operations above — not all of the material inputs, since some come from external sources including Gnath’s Breach, but a portion that the cave system’s geology makes available. The combined extraction and manufacturing within a single controlled installation is an efficiency that the K’tharr Kingdom’s economic organization has built around.
