Droma-Kel

A major military hub and permanent encampment near a strategic defensive chasm in the Kingdom of K'tharr, focusing on the training, organization, and deployment of Droma-Akt forces.

The Droma-Akt — the vast majority of the K’tharr Kingdom’s population, deployed in the thousands in mass formations — require organization at a scale that no single command point can sustain without dedicated infrastructure. Droma-Kel is that infrastructure: the permanent encampment near a strategic defensive chasm where the training, organization, and deployment coordination for K’tharr’s ground forces is conducted at the scale the kingdom’s military doctrine requires.

The defensive chasm near Droma-Kel provides the same kind of natural advantage that the mesa at Ch’kkra provides the capital: terrain that constrains an attacker’s approach while the defender holds familiar ground. The difference is function. Ch’kkra is the governing center that must be held. Droma-Kel is the force concentration point — the location where deployed formations are staged and where incoming threats can be engaged by trained units operating in familiar terrain.

Droma-Akt Organization

The training at Droma-Kel addresses the specific requirements of massed Droma-Akt formation warfare. Individual Droma-Akt are individually weaker than Sovereign Caste members; their military effectiveness is collective, produced through coordinated formations rather than individual capability. The training that produces effective massed formations — timing, coordination, maintaining formation cohesion under pressure, responsiveness to command — is the work that Droma-Kel conducts at scale.

Chronicle Project accounts that describe K’tharr military operations in the field note the Droma-Akt formations’ effectiveness in numerical engagements. The training infrastructure that produces this effectiveness is not described in detail; Droma-Kel is the installation most consistently associated with the preparation of the formations that outside observers have assessed.

Piran training is managed separately through an installation associated with the Moistworks of Va’sh, where the Piran population is sustained. The K’tharr caste and creature structure is highly specialized; each type of force has its own center appropriate to its biological needs and terrain. Piran air cavalry require the wetland conditions Va’sh provides; Droma-Akt ground formations require the arid open terrain of the plains near Droma-Kel. Combined arms coordination happens in the field during actual operations, not during training. Droma-Kel is the kingdom’s ground force center. Va’sh is where the air capacity is prepared.

Chasm Defense

The strategic chasm near Droma-Kel creates a natural barrier that constrains approach to the encampment from specific directions. K’tharr terrain knowledge — the approaches, the crossing points, the positions where the chasm provides defensive coverage — is integrated into Droma-Kel’s operational planning. Forces that reach the encampment through the controlled approach routes face trained formations on familiar ground. Forces that attempt to cross the chasm at uncontrolled points face the terrain hazard without the benefit of K’tharr guidance through it.

The encampment’s permanent character means this terrain knowledge is maintained continuously rather than assembled for specific operations. The Droma-Kel garrison knows the chasm’s current conditions, the approach terrain’s seasonal variations, and the defensive positions that the encampment’s history has identified as effective. This is not knowledge that can be recreated quickly.
