Fey-kind

Three sub-peoples—Brownies, Fairies, and Pixies—sharing a single kingdom across diverse terrain, coordinating defense through terrain mastery and speed rather than unified hierarchical control.

What makes the Fey of Thistrelle unusual is not that they hold territory—it is that they hold three entirely different kinds of it simultaneously. Brownies manage the deep forests, stocky and practical, heavy-armored by Fey standards. Fairies control the desert interior, constructing Fairy Circles (stone or bone rings serving as settlements, rally points, and defensive traps). Pixies dominate the moorland and coastal plains, fast and lightly equipped, highly mounted. Each sub-people is adapted to terrain that would slow or stop the others, and each fights in ways specific to their ground. The result is a single kingdom capable of operating across conditions that would fragment a more uniform force.

Outsiders who dismiss the Fey due to their height—barely three feet tall—rarely factor in that the landscape is fighting alongside them. Most Fey travel on small, tough horses bred for endurance in difficult terrain. The Fey armies do not match human forces stride for stride. They cut supply lines, harass flanks, and avoid open conflict on terms chosen by the opponent. Brownies hold the forest; Fairies pin forces in the desert interior; Pixies intercept everything moving along the coast. Speed, terrain mastery, and overwhelming coordination replace size.

The Kingdom of Thistrelle is centrally located on the eastern coast. The Fey maintain an alliance with Caelthryn (the Elven realm) based on mutual respect and shared interests in preserving the natural environment. They maintain cautious diplomatic and trade relations with humans in the Kingdom of Tercento, wary of expansionist tendencies. Various populations from Gorhask Plain and the Ashbound March represent direct, aggressive threats countered through skirmish tactics. Relations with dwarves are strained due to historical conflicts over resource extraction disrupting natural balance.
